Hello Smiths! 28 days from the relaunch on September 19th! Gen Con 50 was a huge success! We'd like to thank all the playtesters and backers that stopped by to say hello (even play a game!). Game balance is solid and starting with four resources helped speed up the beginning of the game. Adding a new 3 denomination coin had mixed reviews, so we'll do some more evaluation. On to the News!
We continue to need your support, rating and comments on Board Game Geek. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/198414/dwarven-smithy Demos of the game will be at three conventions during the Kickstarter. - Cincitycon October 6-8th (Cincinnati, OH) - Queen city Conquest Sept 8-9th (Buffalo, NY) - Oddmall Hallowondrous October 14-15th (Toledo, OH) Thanks again everyone and keep getting the word out. With your help, we'll get funded the 1st day, work fast on stretch goals and get the game to you as soon as possible. We'll update everyone in 2 weeks on our progress. Thanks, Mike, Craig, and Charlie Flatworks Gaming DwarvenSmithy.com

Unlike other games, where the Kickstarters get you in at the base level and then add components to complete the game. Dwarven Smithy is a complete game without any stretch goals. Our goals will focus on better components/quality in the game, not quantity. Thanks, Mike, Craig, and Charlie Flatworks Gaming DwarvenSmithy.com Hello Smiths,
We are pleased to announce the relaunch of Dwarven Smithy on Kickstarter - Sept 19th at 10 am EST. If we pushed the date any later, it would bump up into the holiday season. Thanks to everyone who sent messages and gave feedback on the previous campaign. We’ve taken all the comments and reviewed them. The overall good news is the last project looked great, just didn’t get the start it needed or advertised enough to get the word out. We can’t list everything, but here are some highlights of things we’ll improve on the relaunch.
We’ll follow up in August and September to keep you informed of our progress and build momentum. As always, thanks for your support and keep spreading the word about Dwarven Smithy on social media. Flatworks attended CincyCon 2017 in early March and tested a starter version of the game. The starter version will contain less guild cards, introduce players to the game and teach the game's mechanics in about one hour. The full game version is the same game as many of our playtesters played over the past year and a half. Art We still have a few icons and other illustrations left to go, but we are 95% complete. We are working with Lisa and Greg Johnson of Luff Games to polish up our Player turn and Game Reference cards. Leonardo Borazio, who did the art our box cover and player characters, is creating the art for our game board stretch goal. We've posted more game art on the main game website, so go visit if you haven't been there in the past few weeks. Manufacturing We have narrowed the list down to three manufacturers. We'd be sending out quotes again next week to finalize the box size and other component pricing. Next, is to reach out to shipping and fulfillment companies to line up how the games will be delivered. Videos Videos of the game components, game setup and how to play will be made over the next three weeks and posted on YouTube and on our website. Reviewers We reached out to reviewers and will be sending the game out in April. We have lined up FatherGeek, UndeadViking, ForgedByGeeks and a few others. Origins (June 2017) Flatworks will be running 16 events for Dwarven Smithy at the Origins Game Fair in June. This will be the last weekend of the Kickstarter too. Hopefully the game will be funded and we have completed all our stretch goals, but if it's needed, we'll be there to push the game over the finish line. Gen Con (Aug 2017) Flatworks will be Gen Con running events for Dwarven Smithy. We are still working out the event schedule as we will also be in the First Exposure Playtest Hall testing other games. Game Website: DwarvenSmithy.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FlatworksGaming/ We have been busy here at Flatworks getting ready for a new year of conventions and working out details for our first Kickstarter for Dwarven Smithy. Stay tuned, we will be announcing a Kickstarter launch date within the next week. Last month, we signed contracts with two artists for Dwarven Smithy. We plan to release some of the great artwork as soon as it's final.
Convention Lineup
It's going to be an an exciting year, so stay tuned... CincyCon
We will be attending CincyCon March 3-5, 2017 and will run events for Dwarven Smithy. Kickstarter Since this is our first Kickstarter, we want to keep it simple and be successful. We have built the starting page, working on reward levels and stretch goals, finalizing the last beta prototype before final art and putting together our marketing strategy. I can't list out all the steps here, but there are well over 100 things to do before now and when the Kickstarter starts. When the project funds, there are just as many steps or more to get the product to our backers. Putting Mike's IT project manager skills to work! Game Art We continue to receive quotes back for art on the game. We believe in Dwarven Smithy and want to invest as much as we can into the game before the Kickstarter. Part of our decision rests not only on quality, cost and timeframes, but the fact we need to also budget for advertising, a graphic designer to put it all together and a videographer for Kickstarter. Hopefully in the next two weeks, we'll be signing contracts. Playtesters We'd also like to take time to thank everyone who playtested Dwarven Smithy over the last year.
